Early End to Buggy Blast!
- Ice_Hole @ 1:07 am PST

| |
| That's right, sbbb came to an early end this year, as the weather god's decided to play havoc with our not dso dry lake's. All was well, till Thursday when it started to trickle down rain till about Saturday morning. Enough to fill the lakes to their brim. A good time was had by all in the pre events, and prior to the rain. But the big days for the buggy blast were rained out. Hopefully you got some rideing in before the rain hit, if you weren't that lucky, then I hope you all had good luck and a good time here in Vegas or Jean. As for the begining of the buggy blast, their was plenty of wind for everyone. With plenty of times people just coulden't find a kite small enough (Damn thoes grass buggiers, can't handle our nice smooth, fast surfaces, j/k). Hopefully everyone will make it out for the Buggy Boogie Thang, or one of the other big events later this year. The weather is warming up, and things are getting nice out here. Almost time to pump up the inflateables and hit the water again. (Lake is mid 60's and riseing). - Ice_Hole

Spring Break Buggy Blast '04
- Ice_Hole @ 9:09 pm PST

| |
| The time is rapidly approaching; the Spring Break Buggy Blast is almost here. This year’s event officially starts on March 30th, and goes through April 4th. Of course, as in years past, There are many that come out early, and those that you just can not pull away (It is rumored some still have not left from last years Buggy Blast, someone should have told them it actually ends. Those lucky bastards) The weather is currently awesome at the lakes, 80’s during the day, and a very comfortable upper 60’s at night. As of this post a storm front is moving in on the Vegas valley, and is expected to cause high winds for the next four or five days (and it is the 22nd). Gives those of us close to the lakes plenty of time to get some practice in so we can show the rest of you guys up come the 30th. Unfortunately, those of us at KitesExtreme.com won’t be able to attend the event till later on. Unless it is for a short evening trip to Ivanpah. (Damn jobs getting in the way). - Ice_Hole For more info visit, sbbb.net the official Spring Break Buggy Blast website.

Local Spot in Kiteboard magazine.
- Ice_Hole @ 11:03 am PST

| |
| That's right, our very own 6 mile cove was featured in kiteboard magazine this past issue. Best thing is, they didn't mention where it was, just that it existed. Good thing, don't want it becoming overran with people trying to kiteboard. Although, I expect it to eventually happen no matter how much of a secret we try and keep it. Of course, their article states that it was nice and hot on their way down, something I wish it was now. Because at the moment, it is far from hot. In fact, if you are not packing a wet suit, and a LOT of warm cloths for when you get out, then you are more wreckless than myself. (I am a wuss when it cones to the cold). If you get a chance to read the article do so. It tells you nothing, but it almost entertaining. Talks about our own little private jewel we have here to board on all the time. - Ice_Hole

BLM to charge for popular Buggy spot?
- Ice_Hole @ 1:17 pm PST
|
|
| |
| Three days ago BLM announced that it was considering a plan to charge for popular desert recreation sites. Includeing a few buggy spots. The biggest of which effects us, is their planning to charge at El Mirage. Their plan is to use the money to "improve services and facilities at those sites". Which makes no sence to me since currently they claim to be going 2.5 mil over their bugdet every year on these recreation areas. Seems to me that a lot of people would have to use the areas to make their 2.5 million to be able to spend more money on the areas. Under the recreation fee program, visitors will be charged $20 for a weekly pass or $60 for an annual pass for their primary vehicle. More information can be found at the Barstow BLM Off Highway Vehicle Information web site. - Ice_Hole
